 Agriculture plays an important role in the functioning of Kinistino as a town. The surrounding area is home for approximately 2300 people, many involved in the agriculture business. Farm size ranges from 160 acres of farmed land to larger farms upwards of 15,000 acres of farmed land. The principle crops grown in the area are wheat, canola, barley, flax, peas and oats. Rye, mustard, caroway, coriander, canary seed, hemp, and borage are also grown locally.
 The soil in the Kinistino area is a rich dark soil typical of the Carrot River Valley region of the Parklands. There are no significant limitations affecting their use for crops. Climatic limitations are very low and thus, Kinistino is a very valuable area of agricultural land.
Besides the excellent land and grain growth, Kinistino farmers raise many ruminant animals including cattle, hogs, chickens, elk and bison. An enviable record for purebred and quality stock has been established in the area and is continuing today. Beekeeping and honey production in the area has proven itself, with over 5% of the provincial commercial honeybee colonies located in the area.
